Huawei Nova 3 Running Android 9 Spotted On Geekbench, Stable Update Expected to Roll-Out Soon

Last month, Huawei rolled out the first EMUI 9.0 beta for the Nova 3 smartphone in China, based on the latest Android 9 Pie operating system. The company’s “affordable” flagship has now been caught on the popular Geekbench benchmark database running on Android 9.0 Pie. While the EMUI 9.0 beta has been released for the PAR-AL00 and PAR-TL00 variants of the Nova 3 in China, the variant spotted on Geekbench happens to be the global variant (PAR-LX9).

Huawei Nova 3 Stable Android Pie Update Around the Corner?

Since Huawei has not rolled out the EMUI 9.0 beta for the global variant of the Nova 3 yet, the Geekbench listing suggests the company may well be on track to roll out the update for the smartphone by the end of this year. Just like the beta update, we think there is a strong chance that the stable EMUI 9.0 update for the Nova 3 will be rolled out in China before other markets. Even if Huawei does roll out the stable EMUI 9.0 update for the Nova 3 in China by the end of this month, owners of the global variants will likely have to wait until early next month for the stable update. The Nova 3 running Android Pie scored 1776 points in the single-core test and 5399 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench. Both the scores are slightly on the lower side when compared to the average scores that the Nova 3 manages on Android Oreo. Quite clearly, Huawei’s software team still needs to spend a little more time optimizing the update for the Nova 3.

Huawei had launched the Nova 3 in China in July this year with Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.2 custom user-interface layer running on top. The smartphone competes against other “affordable” flagship smartphones such as the POCO F1, ASUS ZenFone 5Z, and the OnePlus 6T. Its successor, the Nova 4, is set to launch in China on December 17 with a ‘punch hole’ cutout in the display for the front-facing camera.
