Huawei Nova 5 Pops Up on Geekbench With Kirin 980 and 8GB RAM

Official renders showing Huawei’s upcoming Nova 5 Pro smartphone had been leaked online earlier this week, showing a waterdrop notch display and quad rear cameras. We have now spotted the SEA-AL10 variant of the Nova 5 on Geekbench, running on the latest 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset.

Huawei Nova 5 SEA-AL10 Geekbench Listing Confirms Kirin 980 SoC

The Huawei Nova 5 variant that has surfaced on the Geekbench database happens to be SEA-AL10. It may be noted that the same variant was spotted on the TENAA website recently and has been granted 3C certification as well. The benchmark listing confirms the handset will feature the company’s in-house developed Kirin 980 octa-core processor, paired with 8GB of RAM. Unsurprisingly, the affordable flagship smartphone will be running on the Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box, with the Huawei EMUI 9.0 custom user-interface layer on top. In terms of benchmarking performance, the device scored 3,520 in the single-core test and 9,497 in the multi-core test. Both scores are more or less on par with other Huawei and Honor smartphones running on a Kirin 980 chipset.

Huawei Nova 5 is rumored to sport an OLED display with an In-display fingerprint sensor. However, what remains to be confirmed is if the standard Nova 5 will have the same waterdrop-style notch as the Nova 5 Pro. On the back of the phone will be a quad-camera setup, similar to the Nova 5 Pro. Only two color options have been confirmed so far – Black and Green.

While it was previously expected that Huawei will only launch two new Nova series phones on June 21, it now looks like the company will debut no less than four models at the launch event. In addition to the Nova 5i, Nova 5, and Nova 5 Pro, a fourth model called Nova 5i Pro will also be launched in China next week. While the Nova 5i is likely to come with a punch-hole display, the Nova 5i Pro listing on JD.com suggests it will have a regular notch at the top with dual selfie cameras.
