Huawei’s flagship smartphone, the Huawei P20 Pro as well as its toned down version, the P20 Lite was launched in India by the Chinese brand today. A few weeks back, Huawei had launched three new devices in China, which also included the Huawei P20 along with the above two devices. However, the P20 wasn’t launched in India. Both the new phones will be available exclusively through Amazon India starting May 3rd. The Huawei P20 Pro is priced at Rs. 64,999 whereas the P20 Lite is priced at Rs. 19,999.
Let’s take a look at the specifications of both these phones:
Huawei P20 Lite
The P20 Lite is the lowest priced variant in the P20 series. It has a bezel-less 5.84-inch screen with a notch on the top. The display has a resolution slightly higher than Full HD+ which offers a more immersive experience to the viewers. There is a notch on the top and the display has very thin bezels on all sides. However, Huawei has offered a way to disable the bezel through software, wherein the whole top bar will turn black. In case you are one of those people who hates the notch with all your heart, the company has a contingency plan for that.
It has a dual-rear camera setup that combines a 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensor. The rear sensors have an aperture of f/2.2. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
On the performance side of things, the P20 Lite runs on HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset. It is an octa-core processor which is coupled with 4GB RAM. The phone gets Android 8.0 Oreo which is layered with Huawei’s custom EMUI 8.1 out of the box. In terms of storage, there are two variants i.e. 32GB and 64GB.
The phone is powered by a 3000mAh battery unit. It also has fast charging support and comes with a 9V/2A charger. The P20 Lite has got a reversible USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm jack as connectivity and audio ports.
Huawei P20 Pro
The P20 Pro is a top-notch flagship device that competes with the likes of iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Google Pixel 2. The major highlight of the device is that it comes with three rear cameras. In total, the rear setup constitutes of a 40-megapixel RGB sensor, a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and a 8-megapixel sensor that offers 3x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. If you are someone who is into photography, this phone is definitely equipped to please. For selfies and video calling, there’s a 25-megapixel camera on the front.
The P20 Pro fits a 6.1-inch Full HD+ Display which is made up of an OLED panel. It is a bezel-less display with a notch on the top. On the bottom chin, there’s a home button which doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. The phone is IP67 certified which makes it water and dust resistant.
On the performance front, there’s a flagship level HiSilicon 970 chipset running the show. It is further coupled with 6GB of RAM for superior multi-tasking. The processor also has a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) which claims to offer 60% faster system responsiveness and 50% smoother operation. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo but is layered with the brand’s own EMUI 8.1. It has support for Google’s ARCore and even the Google Assistant is well customized. It also gets 360-degree Face Unlock feature which promises to unlock the phone in mere 0.6 seconds. The P20 Pro has 128GB of internal storage which cannot be expanded via external means. Considering the size of images that the P20 Pro is capable of capturing, an SD card support would have definitely been appreciated. In lieu to that, Huawei could have included a 256GB variant too, however it hasn’t.
A 4000mAh battery unit powers the phone and it also supports Huawei’s SuperCharge which claims to top up 58% in just 30 minutes. It has a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack among other common connectivity options.
Both the devices are positioned in very different price ranges. One is a mid-budget smartphone whereas the other one a top-notch flagship. What is your opinion about the newly launched phones by Huawei? Let us know in the comments below.
