Huawei P40 Pro PE specs leak reveals 120Hz display and penta-lens camera setup

On March 26th, Huawei will be announcing its flagship P40 series smartphones. The recently-unveiled Huawei P40 Lite is an upper mid-range phone whereas the P40 Lite E debuted as a budget-friendly phone. The P40 models that will go official later this month include Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro and the Huawei P40 Pro PE (Premium Edition) which will be debuting as the company’s first smartphone with five rear-mounted cameras. Ahead of the announcement, the Huawei P40 Pro PE has appeared on a South Korean retailer site. The listing has revealed the design and specifications of the smartphone.

The Huawei P40 Pro PE renders that have appeared on the retailer site show that the handset features an elliptical punch hole at the upper-left corner of the screen. While the curves of the screen cannot be seen clearly in the image, previous reports have claimed that its display is curved towards the left and right edges.

The right edge of the P40 Pro Premium Edition has a volume rocker and a power key. The rear of the device also appears to be curved towards the edges. A previous leak had claimed that the phone will be sporting a ceramic chassis. The top-left corner of the phone’s rear shell bears a rectangle-shaped camera module. It has a penta-lens setup, LED flash and some other camera related sensors.

The Huawei P40 Pro PE specifications that are mentioned on the retailer site reveals that it possesses a 6.67-inch display that delivers 1,440 x 3,160 pixel resolution and with a pixel count of 518ppi. It seems to be the first phone from the company to boast a screen refresh rate of 120Hz. The phone will come equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The P40 Pro PE will draw power from Kirin 990 5G and 12GB of RAM. The phone offers an internal storage of 512GB, and come loaded with Android 10 OS. It can be said on the basis of recent reports that the P40 Pro PE may not come with Google Mobile Services (GMS). The device will draw power from a massive 5,500mAh battery that will be coupled with 50W fast charging and 27W fast wireless charging.

On the front, the P40 Pro PE will sport a primary 32-megapixel selfie camera that will be coupled with a 3D ToF sensor. The penta-lens setup of the smartphone will have a primary shooter of 52-megapixels. It will be coupled with a 40-megapixel lens, an 8-megapixel sensor, a 3D ToF sensor and a periscope lens. The handset will be encased in an IP68 certified dustproof and water-resistant chassis. The other features of the phone include dual-SIM support, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS and USB-C.

A reliable tipster recently revealed that the Huawei P40 Pro PE will be priced between 1,199 euros (~Rs 98,800) and 1,299 euros (~Rs 1,07,000). The P40 Pro will cost between 990 euros (~Rs 82,300) and 1,099 euros (~Rs 90,600) whereas the P40 will be priced between 799 euros (~Rs 65,800) and 899 euros (~Rs 74,000).
