Earlier this year, the Chinese tech giant Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu had revealed that the brand will be introducing its next-gen P series flagship smartphones at an event at the end of March 2020 in Paris. Other than that, the company hasn’t yet revealed anything about the specifications and features of the upcoming Huawei P40 and P40 Pro smartphones. However, the tech publication 91mobiles in collaboration with the popular gadget tipster @OnLeaks has leaked a few press renders of the Huawei P40 and Huawei P40 Pro smartphones. The leaked images have given us the first glimpse at the design of the upcoming Huawei flagships, apart from revealed a few details regarding their features.
Huawei P40 and P40 Pro renders
Talking about the Huawei P40 first, the photos suggest that the smartphone will have a flat-screen that will measure between 6.1-inches or 6.2-inches. At the rear, the phone appears to have a square module to house as many as four primary cameras. The module is placed on the top-left corner on the back. The power button and volume rocker of the smartphone seem to be placed on the right side, while the bottom has the USB Type-C charging port, the SIM card tray, and a speaker grille. The leaked renders don’t show the selfie camera of the handset, but we can expect it to come with a punch-hole design.
As for the Huawei P40 Pro, the leaked images of the handset show that the smartphone will be largely similar to the P40 sibling. However, it appears to have a Samsung-style screen panel that curves on all four sides. The display is said to measure either 6.5-inches or 6.7-inches. The source suggests that the metal frame on the corners of the handset will have a new design, which will “make people wonder how the display folds into the metallic frame”. Just like the P40, the P40 Pro will also have a square camera module, but it could have five lenses. Both the smartphones are expected to feature OLED screen panels and in-display fingerprint sensors.
Huawei P40 and P40 Pro specifications and features
Not much is known about the specifications of the Huawei P40 series at the moment. Some reports suggest that they will be powered by the Kirin 990 processor, and come with 5G connectivity, Android 10, 120Hz screen refresh rate, LEICA-branded cameras, and beefy batteries with 50W fast charging support. There’s no word on the pricing of the Huawei P40 series at the moment.
