Huawei P40 series will be launching on March 26th in Paris

On: February 25, 2020

Last December, Huawei had announced that it will launch its flagship Huawei P40 series in March 2020. The device will arrive as the successor to last year’s Huawei P30. Yesterday at its global launch event, CEO Richard Yu confirmed that Huawei will unveil the upcoming P40 series on March 26th in Paris, France. He described the upcoming phone as the ‘world’s most powerful 5G flagship’. The lineup is expected to consist of standard and Pro variants just like its predecessor. Previously Yu had said that the Huawei P40 series will come with a new design, upgraded camera, processor and battery life compared to the previous P-series devices. He also added that the smartphones will run Android 10 but ship without Google services onboard.

Huawei’s P40 launch is just a month away, so we expect more information to crop up in the coming days leading up to the launch event.

Huawei P40 specifications:

The leaked renders of Huawei P40 and P40 Pro have given us plenty of information about the upcoming smartphones. Both the devices are expected to sport OLED displays with 120Hz refresh rate screens measuring up to 6.7-inches. Past leaks reveal that the P40 will feature a dual punch-hole selfie camera although the exact details of the sensors are not known yet. On the back panel, both smartphones will flaunt a protruding rectangular camera module. The latter is expected to house three sensors on the vanilla variant while the Pro model could be equipped with a Penta camera setup. This is tipped to arrive with a periscope lens as the industry-first smartphone with 10x optical zoom while the standard variant could feature 5x optical zoom support.

Under the hood, the Huawei P40 series is expected to be powered by Kirin 990 SoC with dual-mode 5G connectivity. The processor will likely be paired with up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB onboard storage. Both the smartphones will feature Wi-Fi 6+, USB-C ports, and in-display fingerprint scanners. The devices will likely ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Last month, we had also reported that the Huawei P40 series is expected to arrive in six colour options of Black, Blush Gold, Silver Frost, Deep Sea Blue, Ice White and Mint Green.
