Honor USA, in a tweet, has confirmed that it is all set to launch a new ‘epic’ smartphone next week. Honor has a pre-CES event scheduled for January 3 in Las Vegas where it will unleash its upcoming smartphone. At the moment, nothing much is known about the device. However, the teaser suggests that it features a dual-camera setup, similar to Honor 8.
Since the confirmation comes directly from Honor USA, we can safely assume that the device will first go on sale in the U.S. Currently, there are only two Honor phones being sold in the U.S. — Honor 5X and Honor 8. Honor USA also retweeted some user saying, “Excited for EMUI 5 also on the way!” It more or less confirms that the upcoming Honor phone will be running Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5 on top.
In other news, Honor has also confirmed it will soon be rolling out EMUI 5 based on Android 7.0 Nougat to Honor 8. The software update made its debut with Huawei Mate 9 flagship smartphone back at IFA 2016 in Berlin.
Huawei recently announced Honor Magic in China. It sports a 5.9-inch Quad HD screen. It is powered by the company’s HiSilicon Kirin 950 octa-core processor. It packs in 4GB RAM and 64GB storage space under the hood. It houses a 12MP dual-rear camera along with a 5MP selfie camera. The phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and offers a 2900mAh battery.
