Huawei Touch Tablet With LTE Capabilities Gets Certified at FCC

On: December 10, 2018

Huawei hasn’t had a very promising relationship with the US this year but the Chinese OEM still continues to sell some of its products in the country. Huawei recently certified a new tablet model at the FCC over the weekend and it could be launched in the coming days. We’ve managed to get some rudimentary information about the product from the FCC filing about the tablet. Take a look at all the details below.

As per the FCC documents, the tablet ID is QIS-Touch. The latter part of the ID is actually chosen by the applicant, in this case, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd – QIS (China). Now, usually FCC doesn’t release a wealth of info about the product it certifies and that’s true for the most part here as well. However, there are good images that give us a good idea of the product design, and allow us to guess the identity of the upcoming tablet. It seems the new tablet is a 10-incher with a Huawei branding at the bottom. There’s a front facing camera on the top bezel and a stripe on the rear side that runs along the whole body. A rear camera is placed on the side and that’s pretty much it. From the docs, it’s also obvious that this tablet has cellular capabilites.

Now, corelating the data which the FCC reveals with the current Huawei tablet portfolio, there seems to be one tablet that fits the bill – the Huawei MediaPad T5. Unlike other tablets in Huawei’s locker, this one has a Huawei branding at the bottom while others have a fingerprint reader. Also, the design and camera placements match perfectly. Furthermore, the MediaPad T5 also has celluar connectivity options which again corelates to the FCC listing.

The MediaPad T5 was announced back in October and boasts a 10.1-inch Full HD IPS screen supporting 1920 x 1200 pixels. It’s a rebranded Honor MediaPad T5 without a fingerprint reader. The MediaPad T5 has bottom-firing stereo speakers with Huawei Histen 5.0 sound technology. The MediaPad T5 runs on a Kirin 659 SoC and comes in 3GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB options. The MediaPad T5 starts at 1399 Yuan ($200) for the 3+32GB model, 1599 Yuan ($230) for the 4+64GB model in China.
