The Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro went official today as Huawei’s first flagship smartwatches powered by its all-new HarmonyOS. They are the successor to the Huawei Watch 2, which was announced back in 2017.

The company claimed that it took four years to optimise the experience on smartwatches. The newly announced Watch 3 series sports a circular dial with a curved dispay. Both models feature an HD screen, numerous health-focused functions, and long-lasting battery life.

The HarmonyOS-powered Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro flagship smartwatches have launched

The Huawei Watch 3 has a 1.43-inch AMOLED panel with curved edges. It sports 466 x 466 pixels resolution, a 326ppi pixel density, 1,000 nits brightness, and a 60Hz refresh rate. It is equipped with a 316L stainless steel chassis, and it comes with 5ATM water-resistance

The right edge of the device features a 3D rotating crown to switch between menus and it can be pressed to entire or exit an app/function. With e-SIM support, users can make use of it as a standalone device for making voice calls or for listening to streaming music/news. With NFC, users make contactless payments using the Watch 3. The other connectivity features available on the device include GPS and Wi-Fi.

HarmonyOS brings Huawei’s Celia voice assistant and various other functions such as a remote camera for photography and video recording, transferring a video call from the watch to paired smart screen, and the ability to function as a control centre for connected smart devices.

The Huawei Watch 3 offers 100+ sports modes and it can identify 6 kinds of activities. It can be used for tracking speed, distance, calories, sleep, and real-time heart rate. In addition, it also features a body temperature sensor. The Watch 3 also offers access to courses for yoga, body shaping, and bodybuilding through the Huawei Health app. On a full charge the Watch 3 can last for up to 4 days on smart mode and up to 14 days in ultra-long battery mode.

On the other hand, the Watch 3 Pro features a more durable sapphire glass display, titanium chassis, and a ceramic back cover. The Watch 3 Pro supports dual-frequency GPS for high-precision location tracking. It delivers a longer battery life of 7 days on smart mode and up to 21 days on ultra-long battery mode. The rest of the specs of the Watch 3 Pro are identical to the vanilla model.

The Watch 3 series is compatible with devices running on Android 6.0 and iOS 9.0 and above. Both models have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. It comes with a charging base, which brings support for 10W wireless charging for both models.

Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro pricing and availability

The Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro are priced at RMB 2,599 (~Rs 29,750) and RMB 3,299 (~Rs 37,750). The former comes in three strap options such as leather, stainless steel, and nylon, whereas the latter offers strap choices like titanium and leather. The Watch 3 series will be up for purchase from June 11th in China. There is no word on its availability outside the home market.
