Alongside launching the flagship Mate 30 series, Huawei also introduced its latest smartwatch dubbed as Watch GT 2. It is the successor to last year’s Watch GT and comes with significant upgrades.’
The Huawei Watch GT 2 is available in four editions – Sport, Classic, Elegant and Elite. The first one comes with a rubber strap while the Classic variant comes with leather. The Elegant and Elite edition features a stainless steel strap. The Sport and Classic editions are offered in 42mm and 46mm dial sizes. The Elite and Elegant editions are exclusive to the 46mm and 42mm cases respectively. Both the variants feature a circular display with the former measuring 1.2-inches while the latter offers a 1.39-inch dial. The display is fitted with an OLED panel on the top. The 42mm variant weighs only 29 grams while the 46mm version measures 41 grams. Design-wise, the former flaunts a fullscreen bezel-less design while the latter adopts traditional-looking bezeled aesthetics. Both the smartwatches are water-resistant up to 5 meters.
For tracking fitness-related metrics, the Huawei Watch GT 2 supports up to 15 workout modes and comes with 13 running courses pre-installed. The devices also offer heart rate tracking underwater. There is stress monitoring via Huawei TrueRelax and a sleep tracking feature as well. Convenience-related features include notifications from SMS messages, emails, calendar, and social media apps. Users can store up to 500 songs in the smartwatch. The Huawei Watch GT 2 is equipped with a built-in mic and speaker letting users take calls from their wrists as long as the phone is within 150 meters.
Both the Watch GT 2 models are powered by the new Kirin A1 chipset. The 42mm model comes with a 215mAh battery unit which is claimed to last up to 1 week. On the other hand, the 46mm variant runs on a 455mAh cell and is capable of offering up to 2 weeks of battery life. With active GPS, the smartwatches are claimed to last for 30 hours. The Huawei Watch GT 2 comes with Bluetooth 5.1 and is compatible with Android and iOS devices. The smartwatch runs on Huawei’s LiteOS.
Pricing & Availability:
The Huawei Watch GT 2 will be available in the US starting next month. The 42mm version will retail for $229 (~Rs 16,272) while the 46mm model carries a price tag of $249 (~Rs 17,693).
