At an online-only launch event held today, Huawei unveiled its flagship P40 series. The Chinese brand also announced a new smartwatch dubbed as the Huawei Watch GT 2e. The latest offering arrives as the successor to Watch GT 2 launched last year. It comes with updated design and specifications. Let’s take a look at what the Watch GT 2e offers out of the box:
Huawei Watch GT 2e specifications and features
The Huawei Watch GT 2e features an AMOLED touch screen display measuring 1.39-inches in a 42mm circular dial. The smartwatch has sporty look with a stainless steel body and a flat crown design. It is offered in four colour options of Graphite Black, Lava Red, Mint Green and Icy White. The wearable device is water-resistant up to 50 meters and it also offers under-water heart-rate tracking. Sensors on the smartwatch include a barometer, accelerator, gyroscope, compass and a pedometer.
The Huawei Watch GT 2e is equipped with a heart rate sensor and sleep monitor. The former alerts the user about abnormal heart rate and pressure levels. Huawei has also added a blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) that monitors oxygen levels in the blood. There is a stress monitoring feature via Huawei TrueRelax technology. Users can track all three data points in real-time to understand their health status. The wearable device features 100 workout-tracking modes ranging from traditional sports to more trendy forms of exercise. It offers support for 15 professional sports modes including eight outdoor and seven indoor activities respectively. Huawei says that the smartwatch provides 190 types of data in professional sport tracking modes letting users get the most out of their workout. It will record key metrics like duration, calories burnt, heart rate interval, exercise progress, recovery time and more. The Watch GT 2e also supports 85 customised sports tracking modes covering six categories of sports – extreme, leisure, fitness, aquatics, ball games and winter sports.
Like most smartwatches, this one too comes with display notifications like SMS, emails, incoming calls weather updates and social media apps. Users can also turn the smartwatch into a remote shutter of their phone camera with pre-set 5 seconds timer.
The Watch GT 2e is powered by the brand’s Kirin A1 processor. It packs 16MB RAM and offers 4GB onboard storage. Users can store up to 500 songs in the smartwatch. The device is backed by a 455mAh battery unit which is the same as its predecessor. It is said to offer 14-days usage and take 1.5 hours to charge fully. On the connectivity front, the Watch GT 2e is equipped with a built-in GPS, Bluetooth 5.1 and is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.4+ and iOS 9.0 or above.
