At a launch event in Paris today, alongside the P30 and P30 Pro, Huawei also announced two new editions of its Watch GT. To recall, the smartwatch was launched globally last year. Huawei also launched wireless earphones dubbed as Huawei FreeLace and FreeBuds. Let’s take a detailed look at the new devices:
Huawei Watch GT Active & Elegant Editions:
The Huawei Watch GT Active edition is similar to the Classic and Sport editions launched earlier. The new device features the same 46mm watch face and 1.39-inch AMOLED colour display. On the other hand, the Elegant edition has a smaller 42mm watch face with 1.2-inch AMOLED display. Both the smartwatches come with touchscreen functionalities.
The Active and Elegant editions sport Fluoroelastomer (fluorocarbon-based synthetic rubber) straps claimed to improve the overall texture of the watch and offer a durable and comfortable wearing experience. The Watch GT Elegant edition is available in two colour options – Magic Pearl White, & Tahitian Magic Black Pearl. In terms of straps, the Active and Elegant editions are available in Orange, Dark Green and Black & White respectively.
The Huawei Watch GT can monitor a range of indoor and outdoor activities. The new Active and Elegant Editions come with Triathlon mode which includes three types of workouts i.e. open water swimming, outdoor cycling, and running. The smartwatch can record the entire triathlon including the transition time. The mode will be available on Classic and Sport Editions via an update. The new variants of Watch GT also support 24-hour heart rate monitoring with TruSeen 3.0. The TruSleep 2.0 feature tracks the user’s sleep quality.
The Huawei Watch GT Active edition is backed by a two-week battery life while the Elegant edition is capable of lasting up to one week.
The Huawei FreeLace are truly wireless earphones that liberate users from the issue of tangled cables. The earphones promise intelligent connectivity, powerful audio, and long battery life. The Huawei FreeLace sports a metal build , and is available in four colour options – Graphite Black, Amber Sunrise, Emerald Green, and Moonlight Silver.
The Huawei FreeLace is equipped with a large dynamic driver unit capable of delivering punchy bass and smooth treble, as per the company. It offers a range of features like a magnetic switch (improves portability of earphones), a built-in Hall sensor for intuitive controls, two-second-long press for activating voice assistant, and a double tap to skip current music.
The Huawei FreeLace is powered by a 120mAh battery, providing up to 18 hours of playback, 13 hours of talk time, and 12 days of standby time on a single charge. The buds can be disconnected from one another, exposing a USB-C port that can be plugged into a Huawei phone for Bluetooth pairing or charging. It can also be plugged to a USB Type-C port of any smartphone, tablet, or PC for quick charging. Huawei claims that 5 minute of charging gives up to four hours of playback time.
The wireless earphones support Huawei HiPair for quick and easy Bluetooth pairing by inserting the earphones into USB Type-C port of any Huawei smartphone.
Huawei’s new FreeBuds Lite are similar to Apple’s AirPods. The earbuds come in a capsule-like case with 10 hours of playback with charging case and 3 hours on a single charge. The FreeBuds Lite are IPX4 water resistant. They will connect automatically once you open the case after a simple Bluetooth pairing. The wireless earbuds feature various double tap controls. A double tap on left earbud will activate voice assistant, and on the right earbud it will play and pause music. A double tap on either earbud will enable the user to answer an incoming call and end it as well.
Pricing & Availability:
The Active and Elegant Editions of Huawei Watch GT are priced at EU 249 (roughly Rs 19,396 ) and EU 229 (roughly Rs 17,838) respectively.
The Huawei FreeLace has been priced at EU 99 (roughly Rs 7,711 ). It will be available starting April 11th in select countries. The Huawei FreeBuds carry a price tag of EU 119 (roughly Rs 9,269).
