China-based Infinix has launched a brand new phone for the Indian market today dubbed as the Infinix Hot S3. This phone features some great specifications especially for the price it is offered at. The phone will retail for a price starting at Rs. 8,999 and will compete directly against the Redmi Y1 and perhaps even the upcoming Redmi 5. Let’s have a closer look at what this phone has to offer.
Design and Display
In terms of design, the phone looks well built featuring a metal body. On the back is where its fingerprint sensor is located. The primary camera of the phone looks rather similar to that of the iPhone X, although with just a single camera sensor. On the front, the phone features a 5.65-inch Full-View display having an 18:9 aspect ratio. This makes this phone the first device by the company to rock a bezel-less display.
Performance and Storage
In terms of performance, the Hot S3 is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor made by Qualcomm. This is bundled together with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM. Either variant should be great at multitasking and basic everyday use. On the storage front, the phone will ship with 32GB of internal storage with the 3GB RAM variant and 64GB with the 4GB variant. Both variants will support expandable storage through a dedicated microSD card.
Camera and Software
In the camera department, this offering by Infinix comes with two sets of cameras located on either side of the phone. The primary camera setup located on the back comprises of a 13-megapixel sensor coupled with dual-LED flash for capturing good images even in poor lighting. On the front, the phone is integrated with a 20-megapixel sensor which is also coupled with an LED flash allowing for clear and vibrant selfies in both good as well as poor lighting. On the software side of things, the Infinix Hot S3 comes with the company’s home-grown XOS user interface which is built on top of Android Oreo. While this is a great addition in its own, the company has also promised that the phone will receive Android P next year.
Connectivity and Battery
The Hot S3 checks all the right boxes when it comes to connectivity, offering support for Bluetooth, WiFi, 2G, 3G and 4G with VoLTE. The phone draws power from a fairly large 4000mAh battery located underneath its hood. This battery should power through a day’s normal usage with ease. In addition to that, the phone will also offer fast charging at 5V/2A.
The Infinix Hot S3 will be available exclusively through Flipkart in a Sandstone Black and Brushed Gold colour variants starting February 12, 2018. To sum it up, this phone appears to be a fairly rounded device for the price it is offered at and if you are looking for a smartphone in the sub-Rs.10,000 price bracket, you should definitely consider this. The 32GB variant of the phone will set you back Rs. 8,999 while the 64GB variant will cost Rs.10,999.
