Infinix Note 8, Note 8i with Helio G80 and 5,000mAh batteries launched: price, specifications

Infinix had unveiled the Infinix Note 7 earlier this year and the phone was launched in India in September. Today, the company has announced the Infinix Note 8 series of smartphones in Kenya. The line-up includes two devices namely, Infinix Note 8 and Note 8i.

The Note 8 series of smartphones are driven by a gaming-centric MediaTek chipset. Both phones sport massive displays and big batteries. The Note 8i is equipped with a 48-megapixel quad-camera system, whereas the Note 8 has a 64-megapixel quad camera setup. Additionally, the Note 8 features dual front-facing cameras.

The Infinix Note 8 has a 6.95-inch IPS LCD screen that produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,640 pixels, 20.5:9 tall aspect ratio, 1500:1 contrast ratio, and 480 nits peak brightness. The Note 8i has a 6.78-inch IPS TFT screen that offers the same HD+ resolution and aspect ratio. Both phones run Android 10 with XOS 7.1 on top.

The Note 8 and Note 8i are fueled by the Helio G80 chipset. Also, these phones are equipped with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. For additional storage, the Note 8 duo has a microSD card slot. Both phones have 5,200mAh batteries that carry support for 18W fast charging.

Infinix Note 8i

The Infinix Note 8i has launched with 48MP quad cameras 

The Infinix Note 8i has an  8-megapixel selfie camera, whereas the pill-shaped cutout on the screen of the Note 8 features a 16-megapixel main camera and a portrait lens. Both phones feature dual front flash units.

The Note 8i has a 48-megapixel primary lens, a pair of 2-megapixel lenses, and an AI lens. On the other hand, the Note 8 has a 64-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel portrait lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and an AI lens. Both phones offer photography features such as ultra-night mode, real-time eye-tracking, beauty algorithms, slow-motion video shooting, super stable video shooting (on the Note 8), and up to 2K 30fps video recording.

While the Infinix Note 8i supports DTS audio processing, the Note 8 has dual speakers with DTS support. Both phones are fitted with side-mounted fingerprint scanners and they carry support for face unlock. These phones are equipped with other features such as dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Infinix Note 8i and Note 8 pricing and availability

The Infinix Note 8 is priced around $200 (~Rs 10,800) in Kenya and it comes in colours like Deepsea Luster, Silver Diamond and Iceland Fantasy. The pricing of the Note 8i is yet to be confirmed. When available, it can be bought in colours like Obsidian Black, Tranquil Blue and Ice Diamond. Since the Note 7 series have launched in India, the Note 8 line-up are also expected to arrive in the country. At present, there is no word on the India launch of the Note 8 and Note 8i smartphones.
