Infocus is launching India’s first Aadhar-enabled Iris smartphone after it has been awarded the permission from the Government of India for STQC (Standardization Testing & Quality Certification).
This is the first time, the biometric data from Aadhar will be used for authentication in smartphones. With this technology, the smartphone can capture the iris image which will be matched against biometric data for UIDAI key. Also, this key is encrypted and store locally on the device making it impossible for anyone but Aadhar server to access the information.
This smartphone will a variant of Infocus Bingo 20 which was launched earlier this year. It will be available in the next 2-3 months. However, there is no word about the price is revealed yet. According to the company, it is capable of capturing the iris image under various environments including direct sunlight with its superior iris image quality assessment. The phone also onboards an embedded algorithm to provide good quality images and avoid the false positives.
Coming on to the specs, the phone will sport a 4.5-inch display and will be powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It will come with a 1.5GB RAM and 8GB of inbuilt storage which can be further expanded up to 64GB with a MicroSD card. Along with an iris camera, the phone also features dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It packs in a 2,300mAh battery and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
