Instagram is now letting all users to share links in their stories irrespective of their number of followers. The popular photo-sharing platform had discontinued the swipe-up link in August and replaced it with a new feature called Link Stickers.
The Link Stickers feature was only limited to verified accounts or those with a certain number of followers. Now every user on the Facebook-owned platform can share links to external web pages on their stories. The feature has been rolled out globally.
Instagram Link Stickers now available for all users
In a blog post, Instagram added that link sharing to external sources is helpful in many ways for local businesses, creators, and activists. Thus it is expanding access to enable everyone to share what they want on their stories. It’s worth noting that the photo-sharing platform still does not allow adding direct links in posts on the main feed. Additionally, newly created accounts will have to wait for a certain period of time to get the Link Stickers feature. This means that you can’t join Instagram today and start sharing external links, although the company hasn’t exactly specified what qualifies as a ‘new’ account.
Additionally, Instagram also warned that accounts repeatedly sharing hate speech and misinformation or content that violates their community guidelines will lose access to the feature.
