Last night, Apple held its annual fall event, introducing a slew of new products, including the iPhone 14 series, Apple Watch Series 8, second-generation Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra. Along with these devices, Apple unveiled its next-generation operating systems, iOS 16 and WatchOS 9, which will be available with the latest devices.
Apple has officially confirmed that the stable version of iOS 16 and WatchOS 9 will be available for eligible iPhones in India from September 12. Here’s all you need to know about iOS 16 and WatchOS 9.

Apple iOS 16 New Features
Fresh Maps app
Apple has made many changes in its maps app, which now shows multiple new information such as speed, car temperature, etc. Users can also add multiple stations to their trip and check the cost of public transportation. Besides, Apple Maps now have new 3D-like visuals and improved CarPlay integration.
Apple Pay Later
Apple Pay Later is a credit service allowing iOS 16 users to split the cost of Apple Pay transactions into four instalments without incurring additional fees.
New Lockscreen
Apple’s refreshed lock screen includes widget support, customisable fonts, and a new expanded view for notifications that allows you to access additional info directly from the lock screen. Along with that, users can also check scores and track food deliveries from their lockscreen with the help of a new live activities feature.
Messaging
Apple now allows users to edit or delete messages that have already been sent. However, users will have to edit or delete the message within 15 minutes after sending the message. Besides, messages that have been recently deleted are now accessible for up to 30 days, as well as users can flag opened chats as unread.
Along with the features mentioned above, Apple is also offering Live captions, Live Text fast actions, and a new iCloud Shared Photo Library feature that allows users to easily share photos with their family by transferring shared photos into a designated folder. However, this feature will be available later this year.
WatchOS 9 New Features
The WatchOS 9 allows Apple Watch users to check crucial health metrics quickly. Users can turn the Digital Crown to view the key performance indicators such as Activity Rings, Heart Rate Zones, Power and Elevation. The WatchOS 9 has a new Race Route feature that allows users to race against their previous or greatest results while receiving real-time updates.
It also gets a new Running Power feature, which shows an instantaneous measure of users’ effort while running. Moreover, WatchOS 9 adds the new Medications feature, which allows users to set reminders for their medications and keeps track of their medications, vitamins, and supplements.
