Apple iPad Air 5 with M1 chip, 5G connectivity launched in India: price, specifications

iPad Air 5 has been launched today alongside other Apple devices such as the iPhone SE 3 and Mac Studio. The new iPad Air has arrived as the successor to the 4th generation iPad Air (aka iPad Air 4), which debuted in September 2021.

While the predecessor model was made available in 4G LTE and Wi-Fi only variants, the iPad Air 5 has arrived in 4G LTE, 5G, and Wi-Fi only editions. Another major addition to the new iPad Air is that it comes equipped with the Apple M1 chip, which powers the likes of the iPad Pro 2021, MacBook Pro 2020, MacBook Air 2020, and Mac Mini 2020.

The iPad Air 5 has a 10.9-inch Retina IPS LCD display, and it is powered by the Apple M1 chip. Compared to Apple’s own A15 Bionic chip, the M1 promises 70 percent faster performance.

The iPad Air 5 comes with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, which carries support for Centre Stage. It comes preinstalled with the iPadOS 15. The company claims that the iPad Air 5 offers all-day battery life.

In 2021, the Cupertino-based company added support for 5G connectivity to the iPad Pro 2021 and iPad Mini 6. Now, the iPad Air 5 has also arrived with 5G support. The tablet carries support for accessories like Apple Pencil 2, Smart Keyboard Folio, and Magic Keyboard.

iPad Air 5 pricing and availability

The iPad Air 5 comes in two storage choices such as 64GB and 256GB. The Wi-Fi-only edition of the iPad Air 5 starts at Rs 54,900., whereas its Wi-Fi + Cellular models begin at Rs 68,900. Buyers of the tablet get to choose from colour variants like Space Grey, Starlight, Pink, Purple, and Blue. Its pre-orders will begin on March 11th, 2022, and will go on sale from March 18th.

As far as education pricing is concerned, the iPad Air 5 will begin at Rs 50,783. For students, the Apple Pencil 2, Smart Keyboard Folio, and Magic Keyboard are priced at Rs 9,810, Rs 14,310, and Rs 26,226, respectively. Without the education discount, these accessories are priced at Rs 10,900, Rs 15,900, and Rs 27,900, respectively. Apple is also offering Smart Folio for the new iPad Air with a price tag of Rs 7,500. It comes in multiple colours such as Black, White, Electric orange, Dark Cherry, English Lavender, and Marine Blue.
