iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max: A list of problems

5G Connectivity issue

iPhone 14 Pro customers on Verizon network in the US are reporting issues with slow and unreliable 5G cellular connections. There have been complaints about signal or call drops or no connection at all even in areas with good reception and 5G coverage. Additionally, there have also been reports of significantly slow 5G upload and download speeds. Users are also unable to connect to Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband signals. Many of them have been sharing about the connectivity issue on Reddit threads.

One Reddit user said that his signal on the iPhone 14 Pro is usually one or two bars at home and on another person’s iPhone 13 is four bars. This suggests that last year’s iPhone model isn’t facing any 5G connectivity issues.

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with a Snapdragon X65 modem that is claimed to offer 38 percent faster speeds on the 5G network. It’s unclear who is at fault here, whether Apple or Verizon. Both companies are yet to acknowledge the issue and we can expect an official statement in the coming days.

Uncontrollable camera shaking (Fixed)

Apple has already fixed the uncontrollable camera shaking problem on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max by releasing iOS 16.0.2 software update last week. It fixes the issue that causes the camera to vibrate and shake in third-party apps like Instagram, Snapchat, Tiktok etc.

Device freezing upon data transfer (Fixed)

Data migration from older iPhones or iCloud restore to the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max is resulting in the new devices becoming unresponsive. The latest generation iPhones crash and the screen goes blank after the transfer is done. Apple acknowledged the bug that is causing this problem on the iPhone 14 Pro models. The Cupertino-based tech giant rolled out the iOS 16.0.2 update on September 23rd that fixes the issue.

Battery drain (Unacknowledged)

A number of iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users are reporting abnormal battery drain on their devices. Customers using the non-Pro models are also facing the same issue. Many users claim that iOS 16’s poor optimisation is at fault here for degrading battery life. It remains to be seen if the reports continue or if it’s just temporary. However, Apple officially said that turning on the Haptic keyboard feature might affect the battery life of iPhones.

Slow Camera app (Unacknowledged)

The stock camera app on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro is extremely slow, taking 4-5 seconds to launch. This is quite annoying when a user wants to take a photo quickly. Currently, there is no fix for the issue, but Apple may address it in its future software update.
