iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case Is Tested Out To Be Waterproof

On: September 27, 2016

Apple iPhone 7 is the first iPhone to be splash proof. So, you don’t have to worry about the water splashes on the device. Apple has also launched their official iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case on their website for $99. So, now the question arises whether this smart battery cover is waterproof or not?

This smart battery case first appeared for the iPhone 6s. The battery case launched for iPhone 7 is an enhanced version, the battery capacity goes up from 1877mAh to 2365mAh and of course, without the headphone jack. This battery case also let you charge your phone and battery case simultaneously for increased talk time. The intelligent battery status displayed on the iPhone lock screen also shows the battery status of the case so that you know exactly how much charge is left for you.

Coming back to the question whether it is waterproof or not? The AirParrot developers have tested it for waterproof and here are the results. In the test, the developers immersed the case in 0.6 meters deep in a pool for 30 minutes, 0.3 meters deep in the sea of the coast of Florida for an hour, and 0.3 meters deep in a hot tub for 30 minutes. And the results, iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case still worked fine.

As you can see in the picture above, dismantling the case showed that it had added protection for its internal battery and chips from the water. Also, Apple hasn’t said anything about the case being waterproof nor does it mention in the specs of the case, so keep it away from the water.
