The iQOO Neo 5 has been doing the rounds of the rumour mill for a while now. The smartphone was tipped to launch in March with a Snapdragon 870 SoC, Origin OS, 88W fast charging, and a waterdrop notch Super AMOLED display, among others. Now, the official Weibo handle of iQOO has confirmed the launch of the smartphone in March 2021.

Apart from the launch date, the brand has also teased the display of the upcoming smartphone. Contrary to the rumours of waterdrop notch display, the iQOO Neo 5 will come with a punch-hole display. However, the brand has not revealed anything else about the handset.

The confirmation comes from the official Weibo handle of iQOO in the form of a poster. Apart from the name and launch date of the phone, iQOO has subtly hinted at two key specs of the device as well. You may miss it at first glance, but the display shown in the poster has a tiny centre-aligned punch-hole cutout.

Additionally, the display has two cosmos designs in different colours overlapping each other to resemble the digit ‘8’. While the brand has not confirmed anything yet, this could be a nod to Snapdragon 8XX series SoC, 88W fast charging tipped by a past leak, or 8GB RAM. The brand has not revealed anything else as of now.

Several leaks in the past have tipped key specs of the iQOO Neo 5, leaving nothing to the imagination. The handset is expected to come with a 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display with a punch-hole cutout housing an 8MP selfie camera. The phone is tipped to be powered by the Snapdragon 870 SoC with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

In the camera department, the Neo 5 is rumoured to feature a 48MP Sony IMX598 primary sensor backed by a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and 2MP depth or macro sensor. The smartphone is tipped to feature a 4,000mAh battery with 66W fast charging and boot Android 11-based Origin OS out of the box.

Previous leaks have also revealed the price of the base variant of the iQOO Neo 5. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model of the handset is expected to arrive with a price tag of RMB 2,998 (~ Rs 33,000). The smartphone will launch in China on March 16th and there’s no word on availability as of now.
