iQOO Neo 855 debuts as one of the most affordable Snapdragon 855 smartphones

On Wednesday, Meizu had launched the Snapdragon 855 powered Meizu 16T gaming-focused smartphone in China with a starting price of RMB 1,999. On Thursday, Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO announced the gaming-centric iQOO Neo 855 smartphone. With a pricing of 1,998 Yuan, it is among the cheapest SD855 phones in the market. The iQOO Neo 855 is an advanced version of the Snapdragon 845 powered iQOO Neo that was announced in July.

The iQOO Neo 855 is fitted with a 6.38-inch S-AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch. The full HD+ display is embedded with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The display offers features like a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, HDR10 support, DC dimming and a blue-light filter. FunTouch OS 9 with Monster Mode UI based on Android 9 Pie runs on the device.

The Snapdragon 855 chipset powers the device with up to 8GB of RAM. The smartphone offers up of 256GB of native storage. It lacks a microSD card slot. There is Multi-Turbo 2.0 engine improves the overall performance of the device. It speeds up application operation, reduces stagnation, prolongs battery life, reduces heat generation and enhances read and write performance. For gamers, there is Game Space 2.5 for understanding the phone’s usage status, temperature performance and network load while gaming.

The 4,500mAh battery of the iQOO Neo 855 can be charged using a 33W fast charger. Vivo claims that the fast charging technology can charge the device to 10 percent from scratch in just 25 minutes. The dual Wi-Fi acceleration technology on the device allows it to connect to two Wi-Fi networks simultaneously. For heat dissipation, the iQOO Neo 855 has multiple layers of graphite sheets, a long liquid cooling heat pipe and thermally conductive gel placed over the CPU.

The rear shell of the iQOO Neo 855 has a triple camera system that comprises of a 12-megapixel primary lens with f/1.79 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The triple cameras offer features like AI scene recognition, professional mode and night scene mode. Placed on the front is an f/2.0 aperture 16-megapixel sensor. The other features that are available on the device are face unlock, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB-C and a 3.5mm audio jack.

iQOO Neo 855 Price and Availability

The iQOO Neo 855 has four variants such as 6GB RAM + 64GB storage (UFS 2.1), 6GB RAM + 128GB storage (UFS 3.0), 8GB RAM + 128GB storage (UFS 3.0) and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage (UFS 3.0). These models are respectively priced at RMB 1,998 (~Rs. 20,000), RMB 2,298 (~Rs. 23,000), RMB 2,498 (~Rs. 25,000) and RMB 2,698 (~Rs. 27,000). Carbon Black, Electro-optic Violet and Icelandic Aurora are the three color editions of the iQOO Neo 855.

The iQOO Neo 855 pre-sales have started in China and it will be available for purchase from October 31st. There is no word on the availability of the iQOO Neo 855 smartphone outside of China.
