Update (February 20, 2019): After revealing the key specifications of its first smartphone in a new teaser yesterday, Vivo’s iQoo sub-brand today announced that it will formally launch the device in China at an event on March 1. As suggested by the confirmed hardware specifications of the smartphone, it will be a flagship offering with a number of class-leading features. We expect iQoo to release more teasers in the coming days, which should help shed more light on the smartphone’s design and other key features.
Vivo’s new iQoo sub-brand showed off its first smartphone in China yesterday during the live broadcast of an All-Star NBA game. The company also released a new teaser on its Weibo page shortly after, confirming the presence of a sixth-generation In-display fingerprint sensor. iQoo has now posted yet another teaser that confirms all the key specifications of the company’s first smartphone.
Vivo iQoo Smartphone Hardware Specifications
According to the latest teaser, the first iQoo smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 7nm octa-core processor under the hood. The powerful chipset will be clubbed with a whopping 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. However, it is not clear yet if the company plans to launch more affordable variants alongside with lower RAM and storage. In the camera department, the upcoming iQoo flagship smartphone will boast Super HDR technology, which was announced by Vivo last year. The AI-powered ‘Super HDR’ feature is claimed to allow for improved HDR performance. Another major highlight of the iQoo smartphone will be its 4000mAh capacity built-in battery with 44W fast charging technology. Depending on when the smartphone is actually launched, it could grab the title of being the first Snapdragon 855-powered flagship from a Chinese smartphone maker to support 44W fast charging.
For a more engaging gaming experience, the smartphone will have 4D Shock. The feature made its debut with the Vivo Z3 last year and provides shock feedback while gaming for different scenarios. In terms of connectivity, the iQoo flagship will have NFC support as well as a USB Type-C port. The smartphone’s display size has not been revealed yet. However, as mentioned earlier, it will include a sixth-generation In-display fingerprint sensor with improved accuracy and faster unlocking time compared to the fifth-generation sensor that is used in the Vivo NEX Dual Display.
