The iQOO smartphone brand was introduced by Vivo last year in China. Since then, iQOO has been launching flagship-grade smartphones. In May, it was speculated that Vivo will be handing over its Z and U series to iQOO. This was indeed the case, as iQOO has already announced iQOO Z1 and Z1x smartphones in the recent past. Today, the Chinese manufacturer discreetly announced the iQOO U1 mid-range smartphone.
The iQOO U1 is a 4G LTE smartphone that comes with an affordable starting price of 1,198 RMB (~Rs 12,000). The smartphone offers with a tall aspect ratio display with a punch-hole camera. It has a powerful mid-range chip and a big-sized battery that comes with support for fast charging. It also features a 48-megapixel triple camera module.
iQOO U1 specifications and features
The iQOO U1 features a 6.53-inch IPS LCD screen that produces full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels. The 19.5:9 display is surrounded by slim bezels which allows it to offer a screen-to-body ratio of 90.72 percent.
The Snapdragon 720G mobile platform fuels the iQOO U1 with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The smartphone offers up to 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage and a microSD card slot. The handset draws power from a 4,500mAh battery. An 18W fast charger is included in the retail box of the smartphone. Android 10 overlaid with iQOO UI comes preinstalled on the phone. The Jovi AI assistant, Multi-Turbo 3.0 system acceleration and Game Space 3.5 are also part of the software.
The rear cameras include an f/1.79 48-megapixel main shooter. It is coupled with an f/2.4 2-megapixel portrait sensor and an f/2.4 2-megapixel macro lens with a 4cm focal length. For shooting selfies, iQOO U1 has an f/2.0 8-megapixel front camera. Other features include dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, a microUSB port, a 3.5mm audio jack and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
iQOO U1 pricing and availability
The iQOO U1 is available in three options in China, 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. They are priced at 1,198 RMB (~Rs 12,900), 1,398 RMB (~Rs 15,000), and 1,598 RMB (~Rs 17,200), respectively.
The pre-orders of the iQOO U1 have started in China and its first sale will be conducted on July 23rd. It can be bought in colors like Star Blue, Secret Black, and Sunny Frost White. It is yet to be confirmed whether the handset will be released in markets outside of China
