- Jio subscribers suffered a network outage on February 5th, 2021
- The outage lasted for around 8 hours
- The company is proving a 2-day complimentary unlimited plan to affected users
Jio users in the Mumbai circle and other regions faced network outage for as long as 8 hours on Saturday (February 5th, 2021). Apart from suburban Mumbai, Jio networks were down in Thane, Kalyan, and Dombivli because of which users were unable to make phone calls and access the internet. At the same time, non-Jio users were unable to call people with Jio numbers.
Jio is yet to release an official statement on what caused the network outage. However, the company is now offering a two-day complimentary unlimited plan as a goodwill gesture to those who were affected by the network outage.
Jio offers 2-day unlimited plan for people affected by outage
During the network outage on February 5th, Jio subscribers were getting messages like “not registered on the network,” “no service,” and “server not reachable” while making calls. As of November 2021, Jio has around 1.30 crore subscribers in the Mumbai circle. Reports have claimed that even users in other regions like Bangalore, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh were affected by the network outage.
Disgruntled users took to social media platforms to enquire or vent their anger due to network disruption. In such a situation, users resorted to using apps like WhatsApp for making calls through a Wi-Fi network. The connection was restored in a phased manner by late evening around 8 PM on Saturday.
For those who are impacted by the network issues, Jio has announced a two-day complimentary unlimited plan, which will become active after the expiry of users’ existing active plan. The company had also offered a two-day complimentary unlimited plan in October 2021 when its users experienced connectivity issues for a couple of hours.
