Reliance Jio rolled out its superfast fibre-to-the-home Internet broadband service called JioFiber in September 2019. The broadband service was already priced aggressively with the base plan starting at Rs 699 per month. The telco has now announced refreshed tariffs with even more competitive pricing and unlimited data, starting at Rs 399 per month.
Jio has also announced that new subscribers coming on board from September 1st will be entitled to a ‘no-condition 30-day free trial’. As part of this offer, new subscribers will get to experience the full JioFiber service for free during the first 30 days. If they don’t like the service, Jio will take back the router and 4K set-top box (if opted for) with no questions asked.
JioFiber launches ‘truly unlimited’ broadband plans starting at Rs 399
Jio is now offering seven monthly plans, priced at Rs 399, Rs 699, Rs 999, Rs 1,499, Rs 2,499, and Rs 3,499. The Rs 2,499 plan seems to be the only unchanged plan from earlier, but has been renamed to Diamond+ instead of Diamond.
The new JioFiber Bronze Plan is now priced at Rs 399 instead of Rs 699, and offers unlimited data at 30Mbps speeds and unlimited voice calling to its users. The Silver Plan is now priced at Rs 699 instead of Rs 849, and offers unlimited data at 100Mbps as well as voice calls. Both these plans don’t offer any OTT app subscriptions.
The Gold plan is now priced at Rs 999 — down from Rs 1,299 — and offers 150Mbps speeds, unlimited voice calls and a complimentary monthly subscription to 11 OTT apps worth Rs 1,000. The Diamond plan has been revised to Rs 1,499 down from Rs 2,499, and offers 300Mbps speeds, unlimited voice calling as well as a monthly subscription of 12 OTT apps worth Rs 1,500. The OTT services include Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, JioCinema, Zee5, Sony Liv, Voot, Alt Balaji, Sun NXT, Shemaroo, Lionsgate Play, and Hoichoi.
The Rs 2,499 JioFiber plan, which was earlier called the Diamond plan, has been re-christened Diamond Plus. It offers 500Mbps speeds, a total FUP of 4,000GB, unlimited voice calls, and free subscription to 12 OTT apps. The Platinum Jio Fiber plan has been revised from Rs 3,999 to Rs 3,499. The plan offers 1Gbps of high-speed data benefit with an FUP of 7,500GB in place.
The Titanium JioFiber Plan with a monthly rental of Rs 8,499 remains the same but now offers up to 15,000GB of high-speed data at 1Gbps instead of 10,000GB and the monthly subscription of 12 OTT apps.
Jio has also announced that plans of all existing JioFiber users will be upgraded to match the benefits of the new tariff plans.
JioFiber offers 30-day free trial to new users
Jio has also announced that new users who sign up from September 1st onwards will get a no-condition 30-day free trial. As part of this offer, new users will get up to 150Mbps speeds, a 4K set-top box with subscriptions to 10 OTT apps at no extra cost and unlimited voice calling for 30 days. The 30-day free trial is applicable for all new customers, and at the end of the trial period, if the customer doesn’t like the service, it will be disconnected without question.
New users will have to pay a Rs 2,500 security deposit in case they opt for the 4K set-top box during the trial period, while those not opting for it will have to pay Rs 1,500. Only the former will get access to the free subscription of 10 OTT apps, which include Disney+ Hotstar, JioCinema, Zee5, Sony Liv, Voot, Alt Balaji, Sun NXT, Shemaroo, Lionsgate Play, and Hoichoi.
Jio has also announced that those who signed up between August 15th and August 31st will get a 30-day free trial benefit as a voucher in the MyJio app.
