Jio Phone 5G’s expected price appeared in a report by data analytics company Counterpoint. The report, which has been taken down, had revealed that it may arrive as one of the most affordable 5G phones in the country.

Reliance recently held its AGM (Annual General Meeting) to confirm some of its upcoming plans. The company announced the Jio Air Fiber 5G hotspot and its plans to roll out 5G networks in India. It also confirmed that it aims to launch ultra-affordable 5G phones in the country in collaboration with Google. However, the telecom operator did not release any information on the specifications of its first 5G phone.

The Counterpoint report claimed that Jio will be compelled to launch a 5G phone at some point in 2024. The device will carry support for mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G networks. It is also mentioned that the device will be priced between Rs 8,000 and Rs 12,000. This indicates that it could be one of the most affordable 5G smartphones in India. Like the JioPhone Next, Jio may team up with Google for its first 5G phone.

Past reports have claimed that the Jio Phone 5G will be equipped with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display that offers 720 x 1600 pixels HD+ resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. The device will run on the PragatiOS, a customised Android version by Jio. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 480 5G chipset.

The SoC is likely to be coupled with up to 4GB of RAM. The base model of the phone may offer 32GB of internal storage. For additional storage, it will feature a microSD card slot. For photography, it will feature an 8-megapixel selfie camera and a 13-megapixel (main) + 2-megapixel (macro) dual-camera unit.
