On: October 7, 2019

Reliance Jio has introduced a new festival offer for its Jio Phone feature phone. The phone is originally priced at Rs 1,500, but it will sell for Rs 699 from October 8th to October 27th. Additionally, the telecom giant is also offering Rs 99 worth of free internet with the first seven recharges of the handset. Earlier, consumers had to exchange their old phones to get a discount on the Jio Phone, but this offer doesn’t have this condition.

Jio Phone usually sells for Rs 1,500, but will be available at the discounted price of Rs 600 during the offer

In its official statement, Reliance Jio said, “During the festive season of Dussehra and Diwali, Jio is making the Jio Phone available for a special price of only Rs 699, as against the current price of Rs 1500. This is a clear saving of over Rs 800 without any special conditions like having to exchange your old phone. This price is far lower than many of the current 2G feature phones in the market. As such, the final barrier that has prevented feature phone users from upgrading to 4G services is now eliminated.”

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director at Reliance, added, “Jio will ensure that no Indian is deprived of affordable Internet and the fruits of the Digital Revolution. By offering the ‘Jio Phone Diwali Gift’, we are making an investment of Rs 1,500 towards bringing every new person from the Bottom of the Economic Pyramid into the Internet Economy.

Jio Phone specifications and features

To recap the Jio Phone specifications, the handset features a 2.4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. Performance-wise, the phone relies on the Spreadtrum SC9820A dual-core processor, which is accompanied by 512MB of RAM. The device also has a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP selfie snapper. A 2,000mAh removable battery keeps the phone running.
