JioPhone Next has been launched in India today. It was initially announced in June at Reliance’s 44th annual AGM. The device is developed in partnership with search engine giant Google.
Prior to the launch today, Jio had revealed a few key specifications of the JioPhone Next. It is an affordable smartphone from the telecom operator and is said to be developed for Indian users enabling them to benefit from the internet. Jio Phone Next: how to buy
Customers interested in purchasing the JioPhone Next can visit their nearest JioMart Digital retailer or head to this link. Additionally, buyers can also send ‘Hi’ on WhatsApp to 70182-70182 number. Upon receiving confirmation, customers can visit the nearby JioMart retailer to collect their JioPhone Next. The smartphone will be available for purchase in stores from Diwali.
Jio Phone Next: price
The JioPhone Next is available at an entry price of Rs 1,999 and the balance amount can be paid in EMI options over 18 to 24 months. It’s worth noting that the smartphone’s actual price is Rs 6,499. The EMI financing option makes it accessible to a wide set of customers.
JioPhone Next: plans, benefits
Customers who choose to purchase the JioPhone Next at an entry price and pay the balance amount in EMI option will also be eligible for various recharge benefits. It’s worth noting that with the processing fee of Rs 501 and down-payment, the cost of JioPhone Next goes up with EMI options compared to its actual price of Rs 6,499 without financing schemes.
Beginning with the Always-on plan, it costs Rs 350 per month for 18 months (Rs 6,300 effective cost) whereas the two-year plan is priced at Rs 300 pm (Rs 7,200 effective price). Under this plan, buyers are eligible for 5GB data per month and 100 minutes of voice calling.
Large EMI Plan
The large EMI plan costs Rs 500 for 18 months (Rs 9,000 total) and Rs 450 for 24 months (Rs 10,800 total) respectively. It offers 1.5GB data per day and unlimited voice calling.
Up next is the XL plan that offers 2GB data per day and unlimited calling. Buyers choosing the 18-month EMI option will have to shell out Rs 550 per month (Rs 9,900 total). On the other hand, those with a 24-months EMI plan will have to pay Rs 500 monthly amounting to Rs 12,000 in total.
Lastly, the XXL Plan on purchase of JioPhone Next costs Rs 600 per month (Rs 10,800 total) and Rs 550 per month (Rs 13,200 total) via 18 and 24-month EMI transactions respectively. This plan offers 2.5GB data per day monthly and unlimited voice calling as well.
Jio Phone Next: specifications and features
The JioPhone Next comes with a 5.45-inch display bearing HD+ resolution. It is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone features an 8MP front-facing snapper and a 13MP rear camera.
Internally, the JioPhone Next is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It packs 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card slot. The device is backed by a removable 3,500mAh battery unit. Software-wise, the JioPhone Next runs on Pragati OS based on Android developed by Jio and Google. It comes with features like translation, read aloud, voice assistant, and camera modes. The device also comes with Google Play Protect built-in.
Connectivity options on the JioPhone Next include dual-SIM slots, 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Jio Phone Next network support
Although the JioPhone Next comes with dual-SIM slots, it’s worth noting that one slot has to be filled with a Jio SIM card while the other one can be inserted with any telecom operator’s network. Additionally, users can only access the internet and voice calls via the Jio SIM network.
