As part of this collaboration, JioCinema‘s premium subscribers will gain exclusive access to a wide range of popular shows from NBC Universal’s extensive content portfolio. Viewers can look forward to enjoying acclaimed series such as Downton Abbey, Suits, The Office, Parks and Recreation, and The Mindy Project, which is among the fan-favourite titles included in the deal.
Previous Deals and Strategic Shift
JioCinema’s partnership with NBC Universal follows a recent content streaming agreement with Warner Bros Discovery Inc, secured in April. This strategic move demonstrates JioCinema’s commitment to diversifying its content library and challenging competitors like Netflix and Disney in the highly competitive streaming space. The company has also transitioned from a free content model to a premium pricing structure, allowing for further investments in high-quality content acquisition.

Bringing NBCU Films and TV Series to India
In another major development, JioCinema, has inked a multi-year agreement with NBCUniversal (NBCU) to bring a wide array of films and TV series to the Indian audience. The agreement encompasses NBCU’s renowned production entities and brands, including Universal Television, Universal International Studios, Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Pictures, and Focus Features.
Peacock Branded Hub and Exclusive Offerings
Under the terms of the agreement, NBCU’s programming will be available through a Peacock branded hub on JioCinema’s newly announced JioCinema Premium subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) tier. This exclusive tier will offer Indian subscribers access to a range of Peacock Originals, including highly anticipated shows like Bel-Air, a dramatic reimagining of the ’90s comedy series starring Will Smith, and The Calling, an investigative drama series created by Emmy winner David E. Kelley and directed by Oscar winner Barry Levinson.
A Stellar Lineup for Indian Subscribers
Indian viewers will also be treated to blockbuster movie franchises like Despicable Me/Minions and Fast, with recent releases such as Fast X, as well as the eagerly awaited IMAX-shot epic thriller Oppenheimer directed by Christopher Nolan. Additionally, fans of reality television can enjoy NBCU’s unscripted series, including The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules.
