Rishab Shetty’s blockbuster Kannada film Kantara, which had made a mark globally, was released on several OTT platforms towards the end of 2022 and in a few languages in January 2023. The film, touted to be the pride of Karnataka, was well received by the audience, both during its theatrical run and during the OTT release. The makers of the show have now decided the stream the only Tulu version of the film for the audience outside of India.
Kantara (Tulu Version) OTT Release Details – When and Where to Watch it Online
Fans of Kantara, who reside outside India, can watch the Tulu version of the film on SunNxt on February 16, 2023. The official announcement regarding the same was shared on the official social media channels of SunNxt, with a message that read, “The pride of Tulunad and the story of the Tulu culture. #Kantara’s only existing TULU version in the world will be streaming on Simply South from February 16 worldwide, excluding India.”

Besides this, the film is already streaming in Kannada and other dubbed languages. The Hindi version of the film was recently released, and the announcement was made in a different way by the lead actor himself. Fans can watch Kantara (Hindi) on Netflix. Malayalam and Telugu versions made their way to Amazon Prime Video.
Kantara Cast and Crew
The film stars many popular names from the Kannada film industry. Led by Rishab Shetty, the film includes Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, and Sapthami Gowda, among others. The cinematography of the film has been managed by Arvind S, whereas the score has been given by Ajaneesh Loknath. Vikram More conducted the action sequences of the film, and Dharani Putra did the fantastic production design.

Kantara: Tulu Trailer and Premise
Set against the time era of 1847, Kantara highlights the folklore culture of Bhoota Kola and Kambla cultures from parts of Karnataka. Reports state that a certain group of communities from some villages and towns of Karnataka believe in the culture, often worshipping an animist form of spirit – Bhoota – also known as Panjurli Daiva. Presented as an action-adventure, the synopsis reads, “It involves the culture of Kambala and Bhootha Kola. A human and nature conflict where Shiva is a rebel who defends his village and nature. Death leads to war between villagers and evil forces. Will he be able to regain peace in the village?”
Kantara: Box Office and IMDb Rating
Kantara was primarily released in the Kannada language only, and over the first few days, the makers garnered immense love from the audience. Eventually, as per demands, the film was dubbed in other regional languages too, which also led to packed cinema houses. After releasing in theatres on September 30, 2022, the film, within a few weeks, successfully made a box office collection of over Rs 400 crores globally.
