The Kia EV6 has been available in India for a while, albeit in limited quantities. But since the vehicle was available in the country in the form of imported CBUs (completely built units), the EV6’s availability was limited. The South Korean automaker has now announced it is ready to roll out more EV6 models for the country through the same method, enabling customers who missed out on the automobile during its initial days of availability.
Kia has reportedly sold the EV6 to 432 buyers in the country since launch and is now gearing up to replenish the stocks beginning April 15. The manufacturer said the initial round of sales surpassed its original expectations, so there’s hope for the second batch of models to perform decently as well.
“We are thrilled with the response to our first premium EV offering, the EV6, which has established itself as a design and technology marvel has won multiple awards since its launch. As a symbol of our commitment to electrification and sustainability, the EV6 has created history by becoming one of the best-selling products in its first year,” Kia India’s MD and CEO, Tae-Jin Park, said in a statement.
Kia EV6 specifications
The Kia EV6 is available in a solitary 77.4 kWh battery option, which can run for up to 708 km, per the company. It supports 350W DC fast charging, helping the battery go from 10-80% in just 18 minutes. Indian consumers can get the Kia EV6 (GT Line) in RWD and AWD variants, capable of delivering 350Nm and 305Nm of peak torque, respectively.
There are dual 12.3-inch screens spread across the dashboard for a truly modern driving experience. Customers also get accessories like an augmented reality-enabled heads-up display, eight airbags, an electric sunroof, and of course, wireless smartphone charging. Available colour options include Aurora Black Pearl, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Yacht Blue, and Moonscape. The onboard Meridian sound system includes 14 speakers, offering a phenomenal audio experience.
Kia EV6 pricing
Given that the Kia EV6 arrives in India as a fully built import, its pricing is set at the higher end of the spectrum. The Kia EV6 GT Line (AWD) will set customers back by Rs 65.95 lakhs (ex-showroom), whereas the base model EV6 GT Line (RWD) has a price tag of Rs 60.95 lakh. Kia says customers can book the premium EV beginning April 15 across 44 cities in India.
