Ace Bollywood actor, Aamir Khan’s recent release, Laal Singh Chaddha, is now streaming on Netflix. Makers of the movie who released it in theatres, in August 2022, opted for a silent release on the OTT platform, considerably because of the backlash it received during the promotions.
Helmed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha also features Kareena Kapoor Khan in pivotal role. Sharing the news regarding the OTT streaming, Netflix India tweeted, “Keep your popcorn golgappas ready because Laal Singh Chaddha is NOW STREAMING!”

Laal Singh Chaddha faced immense controversy after a few people people across the country accused the team of hurting their sentiments. The trend to boycott the film went on for several days on social media as sects in India were disturbed by portrayal of the character in a certain way.
The film has been written for Bollywood (adapted) by Atul Kulkarni in Hindi and is an adaptation of the 1994 Oscar Winning Hollywood release, Forrest Gump, which starred Tom Hanks in the titular role. The story of Laal Singh Chaddha revolves around the extraordinary journey of a simple man, who was bullied as a boy but gains confidence to run and make a mark for himself. He falls in love with Rupa, who during the college dreamt of becoming a model and earning popularity in Mumbai. However, several events in her life alter her dreams and create a barrier between Laal and Rupa. What follows is a story of their understand, love and affection for each other.
While the critics appreciated the film, it did not earn as expected at the box office. Aamir Khan’s character was said to be filled with love, warmth, happiness.
Aamir Khan returns to the silver screen after four years with Laal Singh Chaddha. Makers have been working on the script for over two decade, one where the team was adapting the script and the other where they were working towards obtaining the rights.
The background score for Laal Singh Chaddha has been given by Tanuj Tiku and the songs have been composed by Pritam. The eminent Amitabh Bhattacharya has written the songs for the film which has been shot at over 100 locations in India. The team began working on the film in 2019 and completed in 2021, however, the release was delayed the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The makers decided to release it during the Independence Day with Akshay Kumar’s film, Raksha Bandhan.
Made a budget of nearly INR 180 crores, Laal Singh Chaddha was announced a flop as it made close to INR 90 crores as the collection from the box office. Besides Aamir and Kareena, the film also stars Mona Singh, Naga Chaitanya in pivotal roles.
