Lava Mobiles is planning a major comeback to the mid-range smartphone market in India. The company will reportedly be launching as many four smartphones in January 2021. Lava Mobiles President and Business Head Sunil Raina has now officially confirmed that the company will be announcing “something that has never happened before in the smartphone industry” at 12PM on January 7th.

Lava Mobiles recently announced a new female-centric Lava BeU smartphone in India. It is unclear whether the upcoming phones will be a part of the BeU series. Last week’s report had claimed that the four upcoming Lava phones could be priced between Rs 5,000 and Rs 20,000. It seems that the company is gearing up to launch new phones across different price points in the country.

The launch event will be livestreamed through Lava Mobiles YouTube and Facebook handles. A teaser released by the brand on Twitter suggests that one of the upcoming Lava phones will be equipped with a waterdrop notch display.
Micromax re-entered the smartphone market last month. Lava Mobiles will also rival the likes of Xiaomi and Realme in the country. Other tweets released by Lava suggest that the new phones will be game-changers and they will come with innovative features.
Some of the previously released feature phones from Lava such as Pulse and Pulse 1 are equipped with features like talking thermometer, BP, and heart rate monitor. Hence, it is likely that the new Lava phones could be equipped with health-centric sensors. Speaking of fitness, the company is also expected to soon launch a smart band with fitness tracking features in India.

Priced at Rs 6,888, the Lava BeU comes with a crystal-studded decoration in the camera housing and a rear speaker with floral mesh. The female-focused phone comes with specs like a 6.08-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch, Unisoc SC9863A chipset, 2GB RAM, 32GB of native storage, 8-mgeapixel selfie camera, a 13-megpaixel + 2-megapixel dual-camera system, Android 10 (Go edition), a 4,060mAh battery with 10W charging, and a fingerprint reader.
