Lava released a 5G update for the AGNI 5G smartphone; enabling Jio and Airtel users to use 5G services

Lava AGNI 5G, the company’s first made-in-India 5G smartphone, is now receiving an OTA update that enables Jio and Airtel users to use 5G services. The Lava AGNI 5G was officially launched in India in November 2021, powered by the Dimensity 810 chipset, which equips the 5G support.  

The Indian OEM claimed that its “in-house manufacturing and development capabilities” enabled it to be one of the first Indian smartphone manufacturers to support 5G. Lava manufactures and assembles its devices at its facility in Noida.

The 5G update is expected to be released in stages, and it may take some time to reach all users. Furthermore, the update will initially be available only to residents of cities that support 5G connectivity. Airtel’s 5G services are available only in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Siliguri, Nagpur, Varanasi, and Hyderabad. Jio, on the other hand, is currently testing 5G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi.

The Lava AGNI 5G flaunts a 6.78-inch FHD+ display offering a 90Hz refresh rate. Beneath the display, it draws power from MediaTek Dimensity 810 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone features a quad camera setup at the back with 64MP + 5MP + 2MP + 2MP sensors. On the front, it features a 16MP selfie camera. It is backed up by a 5000mAh battery and supports 30W fast charging.
