Lenovo unveils Chromebook C340 and S340 with Intel chipsets

On: August 1, 2019

Lenovo has posted a teaser video revealing that it will be launching three new Chromebooks models very soon. The lineup includes Chromebook C340-11, S340-14, and C340-15. The C340-11 is likely the most affordable and the successor to C330. The C340-15 is the most powerful among the three while the S340-14 replaces last year’s S330 and is positioned between the C340-11 and C340-15. Let’s take a look at the technical specifications of the devices below:

Chromebook C340-11

Beginning with the Chromebook C340-11, the laptop is the smallest of three new models with an 11.6-inch display that offers touchscreen functions. It bears a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels with 250 nits of brightness. The laptop comes with a 360-degree hinge, which means it can be used as a tablet as well. The C340-11 makes a switch from MediaTek chipset to the Intel Celeron N4000 processor. It’s paired with 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage. On the connectivity front, there are two USB 3.1 ports, 2 USB-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card slot. The Chromebook C340-11 can be availed in Platinum Grey and Pink Sand colour options.

Chromebook S340-14:

The Chromebook S340-14 isn’t a convertible device, but it does have a 180-degree hinge. This laptop is offered in a 14-inch display bearing either HD or FHD resolution with optional support for touch. The S340-14 is also powered by Intel Celeron N4000 chipset paired with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Connectivity options on the laptop are the same as found on C340-11. The Chromebook S340-11 is available in Dark Orchid and Onyx Black colours.

Chromebook C340-15:

The Chromebook S340-15 comes with premium features and powerful internals. The C340-15 sports a 15.6-inch anti-glare display bearing full HD resolution. It is a convertible laptop with touchscreen support that can be used in various form factors. The video teaser reveals a full backlit keyboard with a dedicated number pad on the laptop. The C340-15 gives users the choice between a Pentium Gold 4417U processor or an 8th-gen Core i3. The chipset is paired with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB onboard storage. For connectivity, the laptop offers a single USB 3.1 port, two USB-C ports, a microSD card, and a headphone jack. The C340-15 will be available in only Mineral Grey colour option.

Pricing & Availability:

Lenovo hasn’t announced the pricing and availability of the new Chromebook models. We expect the laptops to be priced slightly higher than last year’s model because of the switch from MediaTek chipsets to Intel. Lenovo is expected to make the announcement at IFA 2019 happening next month.
