After remaining dormant in the Indian smartphone segment for almost a year, Lenovo launched the K9 and A5 smartphones in the country in October last year. The Lenovo K9 is actually the company’s first smartphone to be powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 12nm octa-core processor under the hood. Going by a new Geekbench listing, it appears the company may soon launch another smartphone powered by the same chipset.
Another Helio P22-Powered Lenovo Smartphone to Launch Soon?
The Geekbench listing reveals the upcoming Lenovo smartphone with the model number L38083 will run on a MediaTek Helio P22 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, coupled with 4GB of RAM. In comparison, the Lenovo K9 is only available with 3GB of RAM. The Lenovo L38083 achieved a single-core score of 823 and a multi-core score of 3,590 on the Geekbench benchmark. In terms of software, the upcoming handset is being tested on the Android 9.0 Pie OS, which means it will probably debut with the latest version of Android out of the box. At this point, however, there is nothing else that is known regarding the L38083. While the Mobile World Congress 2019 is just around the corner, we are not very hopeful of seeing the device show up at Lenovo’s press conference in Barcelona next month. Lenovo did not announce any new smartphone at last year’s Mobile World Congress, so it is likely that the company will mainly be focusing on notebooks and other gadgets this year as well.
In addition to the memory department, we expect the Lenovo 38083 to be superior to the current K9 in most other areas as well. The Lenovo K9 features a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with 720 x 1440 HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. When it comes to optics, the smartphone has a 13MP + 5MP dual-camera setup on both sides. It is fueled by a 3000mAh non-removable battery with 10W fast charging support.
