Lenovo’s gaming division has announced that its first-ever smartphone, named Lenovo Legion, will go official on July 22nd. The Lenovo smartphone will come equipped with the new Snapdragon 865+ chipset, which will also power ASUS’s ROG Phone 3; notably, the ASUS phone will be launching on the same day in Taiwan and India. The announcement by Lenovo came soon after Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 865+ chipset, which is the world’s first SoC to cross the 3.0GHz clock speed mark with its 3.1GHz prime core. The Legion gaming phone has been leaked numerous times in the past revealing key details including disruptive cooling mechanism, and 90W fast charging.

Lenovo took to Weibo to announce the launch date of the upcoming gaming smartphone. As per the post by the brand, the launch event is set to kick-off on July 22 at 8:15pm IST. The poster shared by the brand also reveals that the phone will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 865+ chipset.
The Lenovo Legion gaming phone is expected to go official only in China since the brand hasn’t officially mentioned a global release yet. On the other hand, ASUS ROG Phone 3 will be released globally, including in India.

The upcoming gaming phone was recently spotted on the AnTuTu benchmarking website with 16GB RAM, Adreno 650 GPU, Android 10, and 512GB storage. Earlier reports have revealed that the Legion gaming phone will come with a 64MP + 16MP wide-angle setup on the back and a 20MP selfie camera. The smartphone is expected to feature an FHD+ flat display with 144Hz refresh rate and 270Hz touch sampling rate. The phone is expected to be powered by a 5,000mAh dual-cell battery with 90W fast charging and run Android 10 with Lenovo’s ZUI 12.
