CES 2020: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and Yoga Gen 5 with 10th gen Intel processors announced

The 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is officially set to begin from January 7th. Ahead of the show, some brands have started announcing their products that will be showcased at the event. Lenovo had announced its Legion Y740s laptop along with the company’s first external graphics dock, the Legion BoostStation. The brand has also unveiled the ThinkPad X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga laptops. Both the laptops come with the latest processors, Dolby Vision displays, and other updated features. 

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon specifications

Beginning with the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, the laptop sports a 14-inch IPS display with 500 nits of brightness bearing UHD resolution and HDR400 support. The laptop weighs 1.09kgs and comes with a 180-degree hinge that can be laid flat on a surface. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon features an IR webcam and a backlit keyboard. The laptop is equipped with a Dolby Atmos speaker system and offers four 360-degree microphones.

In terms of hardware, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon houses up to 10th gen Intel Core U i7 vPro processors. It is paired with an integrated Intel UHD 620 GPU onboard. The machine packs up to 16GB DDR3 RAM and offers up to 2TB PCIe SSD storage. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is backed by a 51Wh battery with support for fast charge via Type-C 65W AC adapter. 

Connectivity options on the ThinkPad X1 Carbon include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, LTE CAT9 and 16, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, two USB 3.1 Type-A, HDMI 1.4 and an audio jack. The laptop comes with a host of security features like dTPM 2.0 chip, fingerprint reader, ThinkShutter camera cover, PrivacyGuard, PrivacyAlert, and Kensington lock slot.  

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga Gen 5 specifications

The ThinkPad Yoga Gen 5 is a two-in-one convertible laptop. It features a CNC aluminum chassis and a 360-degree hinge. The laptop comes with the exact same set of internal specifications as the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. 

ThinkPad X1 Carbon and Yoga Gen 5 pricing and availability

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon carries a starting price tag of $1,499 (~Rs 1,07,500). The ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 5 will retail starting at $1,599 (~Rs 1,14,700). Both the laptops are expected to be available sometime this year.
