Lenovo launched its flagship Z6 Pro Android smartphone at an event held in China last month. At the smartphone’s launch event, Lenovo announced that a 5G variant of the Z6 Pro would be launched sometime in the near future. The company today released the new Z6 Pro 5G Discovery Edition in China at the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day Conference and 5G Development Summit.
Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G Discovery Edition Identical to 4G Version in Most Areas
The Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G Discovery Edition is identical to the 4G version launched last month in terms of hardware specs as well as design. As you would expect, the only major difference between the two versions is the addition of the X50 5G modem in the Discovery Edition. Weirdly, however, Lenovo has not announced anything with regards to the smartphone’s pricing or availability yet. This could mean that the Lenovo Z6 Pro Discovery Edition will not be available for purchase in China anytime soon.
Lenovo Z6 Pro sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with DC dimming and Full HD+ resolution. It is also capable of displaying HDR10 content. Lenovo’s latest flagship smartphone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor, clubbed with an Adreno 640 GPU. The Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G Discovery Edition packs 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 2.1 storage.
When it comes to optics, the Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G Discovery Edition has a quad-camera setup at the rear with AI enhancements. The setup consists of a 48MP primary sensor, 16MP wide-angle snapper, 8MP telephoto lens, and a 2MP sensor. Additionally, the smartphone features a ToF sensor. On the front is a 32-megapixel snapper for selfies and video calls. Keeping the lights on is a 4000mAh capacity battery, which comes with 27W fast charging and reverse charging capabilities. Some of the other key features of the phone include an In-display fingerprint sensor, Dolby Atmos audio, dual-frequency GPS, and Face Unlock support. Similar to the 4G version, the Z6 Pro 5G Discovery Edition will ship with Android 9 Pie-based ZUI 11 out of the box.
