South Korean smartphone manufacturer LG had announced the LG G8s ThinQ at MWC earlier this year. The company has now debuted the smartphone in India. The LG G8s ThinQ comes with premium specifications and features. Let’s take a look below at what the device offers out of the box:
Display & Design:
On the front, the LG G8s ThinQ sports a 6.2-inch screen bearing a full HD+ display resolution and an OLED panel on the top. There is a wide notch on the top and a slight bezel on the bottom chin. Design-wise, the smartphone is MIL-STD 810G military-grade compliant and is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. On the back panel, there is a horizontally stacked camera setup located in the centre with the fingerprint scanner placed under it. The device also comes with a dedicated Google Assistant button on the right side. The LG G8s ThinQ can be availed in a Mirror Black colour option.
Camera & Audio:
In the photography department, the LG G8s ThinQ sports five cameras in total. There is a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 13MP super-wide, 12MP standard and 12MP telephoto lens. Up front, the phone is fitted with an 8MP sensor accompanied by a ToF ‘Z’ camera. The Z camera supports features such as portrait and spotlight. LG says that it helps the device to calculate the distance between the subject and the camera to offer a realistic bokeh effect. The front camera also doubles up as 3D face unlock feature for additional security. The Hand ID feature uses the Z camera’s ability and infrared sensors to unlock the phone when the user places in front of the front camera. In terms of video, the G8s ThinQ comes with Video Depth Control and Steady Cam for shooting blur-free videos with a bokeh effect.
In terms of audio, the LG G8s ThinQ is equipped with stereo speakers along with a 3.5mm headphone jack and DAC.
Hardware, Battery & OS:
Under the hood, the LG G8s ThinQ houses the flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with 6GB RAM. It offers 128GB onboard storage. The G8s ThinQ draws its power from a 3,550mAh battery life with support for Quick Charge 3.0. The smartphone runs Android 9.0 Pie OS. There is a gesture control feature called ‘Air Motion’ that allows users to interact with the phone without actually touching it.
Connectivity-wise, the LG G8s ThinQ features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5, NFC, and USB-C port.
Pricing & Availability:
The LG G8s ThinQ has been priced in India at Rs 36,990. The smartphone will be available in the country starting September 29th across retail outlets. At this price tag, the device will compete against the OnePlus 7T, ASUS 6Z, and OPPO Reno 2.
