LG has announced five smartphones ahead of their official launch in CES 2017. These phones will be unveiled at the event held in Jan. Among the five phones announced, four of them belong to the K series from LG while the other belongs to its Stylus line-up of smartphones. LG announced the K3, K4, K8 and the K10 in the series and is targeted at the low-mid range segment of the market. The LG Stylus 3 is a successor to the LG Stylus 2 and is positioned higher than the K series.
The K series phones differ very slightly from each other, as per LG, this helps the customers pick a phone that best suits their requirement. There are minor updates in screen size, camera, battery and other hardware that differentiate these phones.
The K3 is an entry level smartphone in the range and sports a 4.5-inch display with FWVGA resolution. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 210 processor along with 1GB of RAM. The K3 comes with a 5-megapixel camera at the back and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. There is 8GB of internal storage that is further expandable. The K3 packs in a 2100mAh battery and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The K4 is a slightly upgraded version of the K3 and has a bigger 5-inch display with the same FWVGA resolution. The internal specs of the K4 are quite similar to that of the K3, it is powered by a Snapdragon 210 processor, has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage that is expandable. It also runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The rear camera on the K4 is also a 5-megapixel unit. The selfie camera gets an update and is a 5-megapixel sensor.Thanks to the bigger size the K4 gets a slightly bigger 2500mAh battery.
The LG K8 has a 5-inch display with an improved resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 425 processor and has 1.5GB of RAM. The K8 also gets 16GB of internal storage that is further expandable up to 32GB via a MicroSD card slot. It gets a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and has a 2500mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, it gets NFC over the usual 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth options.
The K10 is at the top of the list in the K series. The phone has a 5.3-inch HD display and is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor. The chip is clocked at 1.5GHz and there is 2GB of RAM. In terms of internal storage, the K10 will be available in 16GB and 32GB variants. Storage is expandable up to 2TB via a MicroSD card slot.
The K10 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The battery is removable and is rated at 2800mAh. It also gets a fingerprint scanner on the back. The K10 gets Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
LG Stylus 3
Finally coming to the Stylus 3, it sports a 5.7-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. The Stylus comes with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage and there’s no detail whether it is expandable or not. The phone houses a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front facing camera. It packs in a 3,200mAh battery and also houses a fingerprint scanner located at the back.
