Punch-hole display smartphones appear to be the upcoming trend in the Android ecosystem. Xiaomi has already confirmed that the upcoming Redmi K30 series will have a dual punch-hole display. Similarly, the Honor V30 series will also feature a punch-hole camera setup. LG appears to be following the same trend as the company has recently filed the patent for a new punch-hole camera smartphone of its own.
LG might be working on a new punch-hole display smartphone
As seen in the patent images, the upcoming LG smartphone will have a punch-hole at the top left corner of the display. At the back of the device, we can see what it looks like a dual-camera setup. This, however, is not confirmed as there could be more than two cameras at the back. Furthermore, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner finds its place right underneath the camera module.
The volume rocker and the power button are on the left side of the device whereas the right side sports what looks like a dedicated Google Assistant button. At the bottom, we can see a USB Type-C charging port. The top does not show any port or slot, but it is almost certain that the primary microphone will be placed up top.
As of now, there is nothing much known about the device. That said, looking at the patent images, it can clearly be made out that the device would fall into the budget-midrange segment of the market, so it’s good to see LG trying to bring about the same.
