LG updates UltraFine 5K Display with iPad Pro support

South Korean consumer electronics brand LG has introduced the updated version of its 27-inch (27MD5KL) UltraFine 5K display. Alongside, the company has also launched a 24-inch (24MD4KL) UltraFine 4K display. Both the monitors are compatible with Apple’s Mac and iPad Pro. The new LG monitors are designed to meet the needs of creative designers, photographers and videographers.

The UltraFine 5K monitor comes with a new display panel with a pixel density of 218ppi, producing bright and crisp output. The UltraFine 4K monitor features a 23.7-inch screen which is 10 percent larger than the previous version. The new monitors have a P3 wide colour gamut and 500 nits of brightness. They also come with an inbuilt camera and microphone that allows users to make video calls. Both the UltraFine 5K and UltraFine 4K are equipped with stereo speakers for a rich multimedia experience. The monitors come with an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen brightness when connected to Mac. Users on macOS Mojave 10.14.6 and iOS 10.4 can use the Touch Bar or keyboard on MacBook Pro to directly control the brightness or volume of the secondary display that is the monitor.

Connectivity-wise, the LG monitors feature three USB Type-C ports and a Thunderbolt 3 port. They can be connected to Apple’s latest device like Macs and iPad Pros through a single cable. Both the UltraFine 5K and 4K monitors deliver 94W of power output that can be used to charge a USB Type-C compliant device like Mac machine or iPad. The monitors are also claimed to offer convenience with adjustable height and tilt for maximum user comfort.

The first LG UltraFine series was well-received by creative professionals for its exceptional performance and convenience. Ease of use, seamless integration, and stunning screen quality make LG UltraFine monitors a great choice for Apple users,” said Jang Ik-hwan, head of LG’s IT business division.

The LG UltraFine 5K display is available for purchase through Apple’s online store and select Apple Stores in the US at a price tag of $1,299.95 (~Rs 89,400). The UltraFine 4K display will retail at $699.95 (~Rs 48,100). Details regarding availability and pricing are not known for the Indian markets.
