LG had previously launched the V30 as its flagship phone in September. It has now unveiled the V30+, an upgraded version of the V30, which packs in flagship level specifications and a superb build quality. This phone has been launched in India today and will go on sale from 18th December. It will be exclusively available on Amazon and is priced at Rs. 44,990.
The LG V30+ has a premium design with a military grade metal chassis. This protects it from all kinds of extreme weather conditions. Recently, the iPhone X’s screen kept freezing in cold weather which Apple later fixed via a software update. No such issues should occur with the V30+. According to LG, it is currently the lightest 6-inch phone in the market, weighing in at just 158 grams. The phone will be available in two different colours: Aurora Black and Cloud Silver. More colours might be introduced after the launch.
The V30+ fits in a P-OLED display spanning 6-inches. Even the newly launched Google Pixel 2 XL has the same display type, as its manufacturer was LG as well. One of the major advantages of P-OLED is that it is considered to be shatterproof. The phone has also got a sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for additional protection. It has a bezel-less display and thus, the aspect ratio is 18:9. The phone’s resolution is scaled at 2880 x 1440 pixels. Its previous versions V10 and V20 came with a secondary screen for displaying notifications and other details. However, the V30 as well as its newly launched plus version have skipped it for a more updated design.
The rear dual camera setup comprises of two lenses: an f/1.6 16-megapixel sensor and another f/1.9 13-megapixel sensor. Both of them are well-equipped to capture superb low-light pictures. Moreover, the camera lenses are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top. Features like 3-axis OIS, PDAF, laser autofocus and dual LED flash are offered in the V30+. On the front, there’s a 5-megapixel snapper to capture selfies and allow video-calling.
Performance, Storage & Software
In terms of performance, the phone’s specifications seem impressive. A Snapdragon 835 chipset powers the phone which is coupled with 4GB of RAM. We can expect a seamless lag-free performance given the high-end specifications. The phone has got 128GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 2TB via a microSD card. The V30+ runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat topped with LG’s own custom skin UX 6.0.
Battery & Connectivity
The LG V30+ has a 3300mAh battery unit that shall be sufficient for a day’s use. LG has also provided Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 in the V30+. In a battery test, the V30 was among the fastest charging smartphones, second only to the OnePlus 5T. So we can expect the plus version to be equally good, if not better.
In terms of connectivity, it has a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. For wireless connectivity, it has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS and FM radio.
The LG V30+ will be another good contender in the flagship price range. Pre-orders of the phone start from today so if you want one, you can book it on Amazon.
