Apple launches new MacBook Air with 10th gen Intel CPUs and improved keyboard, prices start at Rs 92,990

Apple has launched new editions of the iPad Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Mini in India. The all new MacBook Air 2020 promises faster performance than its predecessor as it is driven by the latest 10th generation Intel Core processors. The MacBook Air also features the new Magic Keyboard. The base model of the device offers more storage at 256GB. Most notably however, the new MacBook Air comes with a lower price compared to its predecessor.

MacBook Air 2020 specifications and features

The new MacBook Air has a 13-inch IPS LED Retina True Tone display with a resolution of 1,600 x 2,560. The notebook is powered by 10th generation Intel processors and it comes in CPU variants such as Core i7, Core i5 and Core i3. The i7 variant is clocked up to 1.2GHz and with Turbo Boost, it can achieve performance speeds of up to 3.8GHz.

The device comes with Intel Iris Plus Graphics that promises up to 80 percent faster graphics performance. It is not as powerful as the MacBook Pro in terms of graphics, but it should be capable at handling video editing tasks. The processor is accompanied by 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM.

The Magic Keyboard which was first introduced on the 16-inch MacBook Pro has not found its way on the MacBook Air 2020. However, the keyboard lacks the intuitive Touch Bar. Instead of it, it provides users with regular Function keys on the top row. It features Force Touch trackpad for smooth navigation. The presence of Touch ID enables seamless login and secure online purchases. When it comes to storage, the device offers 256GB of SSD storage in the base model and 2TB of SSD in the highest variant. It comes loaded with the latest MacOS Catalina.

For security, the MacBook Air 2020 features Apple’s own T2 Security Chip. It promises a more secure boot process and storage while safeguarding the Touch ID data of the user. It comes with an HD webcam for FaceTime calls. For better voice during video calls, the MacBook Air 2020 is equipped with a three-mic array.

The stereo speakers of the MacBook Air 2020 kick into action while watching content on Apple TV+ or playing games. The two Thunderbolts 3 slots on the device can be used for data transfers, charging and video output. For the first time, the new MacBook Air supports up to a 6K external display. The MacBook Air 2020 comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3.5mm audio jack. The 49.9Wh battery promises up to 12 hours of Apple TV movie playback and a standby time of 30 hours. The box package of the device features a 30W USB-C power adapter.

MacBook Air price in India

The new MacBook Air carries a starting price of Rs 92,990. It will be available in stores starting from the coming week. Gold, Silver and Space Grey are the three colour editions of the MacBook Air 2020. Apple has also introduced an updated Mac Mini in India. The new 256GB Mac Mini is priced at Rs 74,900 and the 512GB edition costs Rs 1,05,900.
