MediaTek is geared up to launch its flagship 5G chipset on November 26 that happens to be today. Right ahead of the launch, a new MediaTek 5G chipset with the model number MediaTek MT6889 has been spotted on the AnTuTu benchmark website that astonishingly beats the likes of the current flagship chipsets like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and the Kirin 990 5G chipset.
MediaTek MT6889 appears on AnTuTu, beats the flagship chipsets
As seen in the image, the AnTuTu score that the upcoming MediaTek processor has been able to achieve is a staggering total of 511363 under the Antutu V8 version. In terms of sub-scores, the CPU has scored 161,266 points and the GPU has scored 196,097 points.
Furthermore, the AI-benchmark database clearly suggests that the MediaTek MT6889 SoC has performed better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset and the Kirin 990 5G chipset.
It is already known that the MT6889 is based on a 7nm FinFET process which makes use of the ARM Cortex A77 architecture and Mali-G77 GPU. All this makes the chipset the world’s first A77 + G77 architecture. Adding to it, the MT6889 integrates the 5G modem Helio M70 which has up to 4.7Gbps of downlink speed and up to 2.5Gbps of uplink speed.
As of now, it is rather unclear as to which smartphone manufacturer would make use of the upcoming MediaTek flagship chipset, but it will most likely be announced in today afternoon’s press conference.
