- Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000 chipsets have launched today
- These chipsets are designed to offer flagship-grade performance
- It also unveiled Dimensity 1300 for mid-range phones
MediaTek Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000 have launched today at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022. MediaTek’s latest 5nm chip offerings are designed to power high-end smartphones. The Dimensity 8100 and 8000 chipsets are positioned lower than the Dimensity 9000, which is designed for flagship smartphones. In addition, MediaTek also announced the Dimensity 1300 chip for mid-range smartphones.
The specifications of the Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000 suggest that these MediaTek SoCs will rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 870 mobile platforms. The Taiwanese manufacturer said that the phones powered by the Dimensity 8100 / 8000 will debut a little after MWC.
MediaTek Dimensity 8100, 8000 specifications
The Dimensity 8100 has four Cortex-A78 performance cores clocking at 2.85GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. On the other hand, the Dimensity 8000 has four Cortex-A78 performance cores working at 2.75GHz. It is coupled with four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. For graphics, these chipsets are equipped with Mali-G-610 MC6 GPU.
The rest of the specs are identical on Dimensity 8100 and 8000 chips. These SoCs offer other features such as quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, up to 200MP camera, 4K60 HDR10+ video, Bluetooth 5.3, and 2×2 Wi-Fi 6E. For 5G connectivity, the Dimensity 8100 and 8000 support the latest 3GPP standards for sub-6GHz.
These chipsets also lack support for mmWave 5G connectivity. According to tipster Yogesh Brar, Dimensity 8100 will be first seen on the Redmi K50 Pro, which is expected to debut this month in China. It will be followed by the Realme GT Neo 3. The upcoming vanilla Vivo X80 is also expected to feature the Dimensity 8100. Besides these, there is a mysterious D8100 powered OnePlus Nord smartphone in the works.
