MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC officially launched; will power OPPO Find X4, Redmi K50 series and others

MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor has been launched officially. The Taiwanese chipset maker had announced it last month. It is a flagship processor and is said to offer the most powerful and energy-efficient chipset to date with a number of industry-first features. The Dimensity 9000 competes against Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The Dimensity 9000 is built on TSMC’s N4 production process. Leading OEMs including OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor are confirmed to adopt MediaTek’s flagship SoC in their smartphones in the first quarter of 2022.

List of smartphones to arrive with Dimensity 9000

OPPO VP Henry Duan revealed that the next Find X flagship phone will be the first Dimensity 9000-powered smartphone. The upcoming Find X device is none other than the next-generation Find X4. 

Xiaomi VP and Redmi GM Lu Weibing confirmed that the Redmi K50 series will be equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 SoC. However, the exact model in the lineup remains a mystery. 

Meanwhile, both Honor and Vivo will also unveil Dimensity 9000 powered smartphones but have not revealed the names of the exact devices.

MediaTek Dimensity 9000 specifications and features

The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is based on TSMC’s ultra-efficient 4nm architecture. It is equipped with an octa-core ARMv9 CPU that consists of an ultra Cortex-X2 Core clocked at 3.05GHz, three Cortex A710 cores at 2.85GHz, and four efficient Cortex-A510 cores. The chipset supports LPDDR5X RAM with speeds up to 7500Mbps. The Dimensity 9000 is also equipped with ARM Mali-G710 GPU along with HyperEngine 5.0 and support for raytracing SDK for developers.

It is integrated with MediaTek’s fifth-generation APU delivering 4x power efficiency. The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 features an 18-bit Imagiq Gen 7 HDR image signal processor. It is the first chipset in the industry to support 320MP camera resolution on smartphones as well as 4K HDR video capture on three sensors simultaneously. The processor is capable of supporting a 144Hz refresh rate on WQHD+ resolution while FHD+ displays max out at 180Hz. 

In terms of connectivity, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 comes with an integrated 5G modem with support for sub-6GHz networks that is claimed to offer up to 7Gbps download speeds with 3CC carrier aggregation. The SoC features WiFi-6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support.
