MediaTek has just announced its first mobile SoC centred around gaming called the Helio G90 and G90T today. And AnTuTu has just posted scores of a MediaTek SoC with A76 cores in China which we believe to be the same newly launched processor. We’ve also spotted the same model ”Alps k85v1_64″ on Geekbench that AnTuTu has reported for the chip. The new Helio G90 is considered one of the most powerful chipsets in MediaTek’s portfolio. As far as we know, the MediaTek G90 is the first SoC in its portfolio to use the 64-bit ARM Cortex A76 cores.
Coming to scores, the total figure is slightly above 220,000 which is not much very higher than the scores of the Snapdragon 730 SoC and still a bit lower than the new 7nm Kirin 810 SoC. The MediaTek G90 uses an ARM Mali G76 graphics processor (GPU) and the scores are indeed promising. As for Geekbench, the processor has a score of 2408 and 7161 for single and multi-core respectively. We expect the CPU to compete with Qualcomm’s best silicone in the mid-range segment.
Getting into detailed specifications, both the MediaTek G90 and G90T are octa-core chipsets with A76 ARM Cortex and A55 ARM Cortex cores clocked at a max 2.05GHz. It can accommodate up to 10GB of LPDDR4 RAM. In terms of camera sensors, the chip supports single cameras up to 64 megapixels or a dual-lens camera with a 24-megapixel lens. It is also equipped with a built-in HyperEngine game technology that is tailored for stunning graphics, great connectivity, and smoother gameplay. It also has the ability to connect to two Wi-Fi routers or bands — even with a single Wi-Fi antenna. MediaTek also says that the SoC supports two A.I. assistant wake-up words.
What we don’t know is when we will see the MediaTek G90 in action in a smartphone but Xiaomi is expected to be one of the first to bring a device with it.
